How Much Does Sewer Line Replacement Cost?

At Next Level Pipe Lining, we specialize in sewer repair and replacement services. Serving the greater Charlotte area with over 25 years of combined experience, we are experts in conducting these services effectively while keeping the costs low and convenient for our customers.

Due to the nature of the work needed to fix sewer pipelines effectively, sewer replacement costs can vary based on many different factors. Some of these components include the length and depth of the sewer line, as well as the material the sewer line is made of. In Charlotte, Orangeburg pipes, a common type of pipeline material comprised of tar paper pitch, is common in the area and often needs to be replaced once it’s discovered. Cast iron pipes are the most common material that we encounter, and this material requires a lot of work and energy to remove, replace, or repair effectively. Finally, we also encounter clay and terracotta pipes, materials that are softer and tend to crack easily, allowing tree roots to penetrate the interior of the pipe. All of this information determines how we will approach the repairs and conduct replacement services.

In addition to the pipeline depth and materials impacting the expenses, the method of rehabilitating the sewer pipe line can also have an impact on the final price. We prefer to repair sewer lines without having to dig up property with a process called trenchless sewer line replacement. This trenchless method is quickly becoming the preferred method of repair used today. More and more of our customers are asking for this process by name. While this trenchless process of repairs and replacements is relatively new, the principle of no-dig solutions dates back to the early 90’s.

What Are The Benefits Of Trenchless Sewer Pipeline Replacements For Customers?

  1. Cost

Typically, our trenchless methods cost less than traditional dig-and-replace methods. With trenching processes, the plowing and labor needed to dig the trenches—particularly deep ones—influences the price, and that doesn’t include potential remediation costs that customers need to account for after the job is finished. With trenchless procedures, the cost excludes these additional laborious processes, instead keeping the prices focused on the pipe lining materials and the epoxy resin used to restore the pipes.

  2. Time

With our no-dig methods of repairs, the host pipe needs to be inspected properly to ensure that the trenchless repairs will be accurate. This is done with a small camera that fits inside of the sewer pipe. With most sewer pipelines being 4 inches in diameter, our cameras are designed to easily fit in these small, compact spaces. After the pipe has been assessed through the video footage and the problems are identified, we prepare the pipe for the epoxy resin liner. This is accomplished with a powerful water jetting tool that cleans and descales the interior of the pipe, scouring away debris and washing it away.

As a result of the epoxy resin lining process, most sewer systems can be completely rehabilitated in approximately a single day, and since there is minimal digging, we keep your property in peak condition. The cost of this process, as mentioned before, can vary, and customers can expect to pay anywhere from $90 - $110 per foot. This means that if the sewer line on your property is 70 feet long, the final price range can be anywhere from $6,300 - $7,700. While costly, this is significantly cheaper than traditional, dig-and-replace methods, which can potentially end up being triple the cost of trenchless repairs.
